A new medical device manufactured with unique Supersonic Technology, the WISE Cortical Strip (WCS®) is composed of platinum electrodes embedded in a soft and thin film of silicone. It is used for continuous recording of the brain’s spontaneous electrical activity (ECoG) and somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) and for brain stimulation, aimed to elicit motor evoked potentials (MEPs).

Pre-clinical studies have confirmed the WISE Cortical Strip functionality, performance, reliability, stability, biocompatibility, safety and usability for Intraoperative Neuromonitoring. A European multicentric pre-market clinical study has confirmed the safety, performance and usability of WISE Cortical Strip during surgical interventions for brain tumours and epilepsy surgeries (view the WIN Study)

Thinner and more
pliable

Whereas traditional cortical strips are made of a stiff plate of stable shape, thanks to our Supersonic Technology, the WISE Cortical Strip is composed of platinum electrodes embedded in a soft and thin film of silicone. The WISE Cortical Strip is therefore highly ergonomic and conformable even on surfaces, such as the brain, with a floppy nature. These properties are critical for the adhesion and adaptability of the electrodes’ contacts on the cortical surface
